about The Office

The Office originally aired in 2001 on BBC Two. It aired two series of six episdes each, plus a two part Christmas special. An American version of The Office was made in 2005 and airs currently on NBC. The show centers around David Brent, a boss who prides himself in being beloved by his employees, however grossly misinformed this may be. As he describes himself, he's just "a chilled out entertainer." Gareth Keenan would be the office suck up, if only he were any good at it. He somehow attained the level of "assistant to the regional manage", however this is only in title and does not involve any extra pay and work no one else is willing to do for free. Tim Canterburry, one of the few sane people in the office, which makes him feel out of place at times. His sole enjoyment from work comes from receptionist Dawn Tinsely, his "ray of sunshine". The tricky part is that Dawn has been engaged to her boyfriend Lee for three years (with still no sign of a wedding ahead), however this doesn't stop her from reciprocating Tim's flirtations, leading to several embarrassing proposals on Tim's part. Together, they also have good fun winding up Gareth with euphamisms about his army adventures. At the offices of Werhham Hogg, it's easy to feel like your life is as mundane as the paper they sell. They are the middle men of middle men, selling office supplies to other offices. But, if they're lucky, perhaps one day they can work their way up to head office, or even better paper merchants!

about fanlistings

A fanlisting is a site dedicated to uniting fans all around the world of a particular subject. If you're a fan, then you can be on the list! All you have to do is join with your name, country and email address. TheFanlistings.org is the original web directory for fanlistings. It lists one fanlisting per subject, so that fans can easily find the fanlisting they're looking for, and all fans for that subject find the same fanlisting. The subjects range from everything to entertainment, fashion, history, food, sports, technology and various miscellaneous subjects as well. If you can be a fan of it, there can be a fanlisting for it. This is the only fanlisting listed at TFL.org for the British version of The Office. (The American version has its own fanlisting here.) Why build a fanlisting? Because it's nice to know there are other people you've never heard of who share a remote commonality with you. Plus, it beats sitting around waiting to go insane.

about madhouse

This site is owned and is maintained by Claire. It launched on April 9th, 2006 and was created using Adobe Photoshop CS2 and TacoHTML. The title is a reference to David Brent's line, "Do not be fooled by their job descriptions. They are absolutely mad, all of them." I thought it an acurate ironic description of the office, which for all of David Brent's antics, can never be anything more than mundane. However to say there isn't any madness wouldn't be fair, it's just the kind of madness that you don't want to be a part of (but can't look away from!). The layout features caps of my own making. Brushes are from Ancient Secret and stock images are from Stock Exchange. The fonts used are Courier New and Splendid 66.
